Tinajas del Maule Winery
Founded in 1997, when the Mena Undurraga family acquired old, established vineyards in the town of Villa Alegre in the Maule Valley. They decided to upgrade the existing vineyards, which dated back to 1918, to take advantage of the region’s great potential. All this took place while maintaining the adobe buildings and oak casks, integrating the benefits of stainless steel and state-of-the-art equipment for vinification and bottling. Today the winery has a three million liter (approx. 800,000 gal.) capacity and 741 acres planted with six types of premium varietal grapes: Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Pinot Noir, Carmenere, Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay.

Carmenere
Deep violet color with blue hues. Intense and complex aromas of wild berries, ripe fruit and lots of pepper. Medium body, rich mature fruit flavors with savory hints are well integrated with grainy tannins; nice soft acidity. Good wine for appetizer.

Cabernet Sauvignon/Merlot
This blend has a strong violet red color. An intensely rich, complex bouquet with succulent flavors of black and red currants. This is a medium bodied wine with a pleasant acidity.

Sauvignon Blanc
With fresh floral notes, citrus and grapefruit flavors, this wine is pleasantly firm with balanced acidity. A bright finish of ripe fruits make this a refreshing wine to enjoy.

Cabernet Sauvignon
Intense violet red color aromas of plum, tobacco and chocolate. The palate is soft with a silky structure. It is a complex wine with soft round tannins. Full body, with great varietal character and a long-lasting finish.

Sauvignon Blanc
Expressive and elegant are perfect words to describe this Sauvignon Blanc. With fresh floral notes and citrus and grapefruit flavors, it has a firm but balanced acidity with ripe fruits and hints of apricot on the finish.

Carmenere
Deep violet in color with hues of blue, this wine opens with waves of blackberries followed by classic chocolate and coffee flavors. Smooth, fruit forward, and medium-bodied. It pairs beautifully with pasta and also stands up well on its own.
